  2. This contest looks fabulous!

+1 I think immortality for vamps and some faeries. To be invincible really intrigues humans, I think. The powers are also a perk, and as humans we are curious about things that aren't like us and that we don't understand.

  4. -All fantasy beings are fascinating to me. The biggest thing that really amazes me is when beings are able to shift and morph into something else. That amazing ability gives them the chance to totally be something else. I'm totally jealous lol

  9. +1 I think that they're so facinating because they can do things that we can't: Live forever, have super speed/stregth, use magic etc. Also because naturally you want to know more about them, but since they're not real there are so many ways to portray them, and every way is a little different. Now that I've given you my 4 point extended response answer...:D

    +5 old follower.

oh, and I would choose Shiver, Tear Collector, and Wings. One for each species ;D Congrats on 400!

  10. Congrats on the followers and thanks for the wonderful contest. :)

I think anything supernatural is fascinating because of its' otherness.

Vampires are seen in a romantic light in some cases and then the flip side is preternatural killer.

Fairies or Fae are royal in their bearing and in some cases they watch over humankind as protector - but the flip side is that they are envious as well.

Werewolves and shifters are two natured in reality - some times they retain their human intelligence - but the flip side is when they don't and they give in to their beast.

    I love them all. :)

  11. +1 They're different. They let me imagine the world in ways that most people would see as impossible. They're also an excellent escape from the read world. AND, they provide a lot of inspiration for aspiring writers-such as myself.

  12. I think supernatural beings are so fanscinating because, first of all, the idea of them is so darn interesting. You can't help but wonder: "what if"... what if I had these powers or could do this or that. What would life be like? Also, I love to read books that are realistic, but it is kind of nice to escape from reality every once in awhile. That is often why I read - supernatural books make that much easier! Plus, the guys in supernatural books are often hotter. :) Just kidding... kind of!

Werewolves I'm starting to see the appeal to. I mean I didn't like the whole hairy thing but puppies are cute? O_O

Faeries are the X-factor. They can be almost anythingggggg

Really, what's not facinating about anything that howls at the moon, flies around with magic, or bites people's necks? LOL. Well, okay, putting it that way it just sounds weird, but for me, if it's non-human, it's my kind of character!

  34. Great contest!

+1 I think supernatural beings are fascinating because they are so different from fragile human beings. They have immortality, supernatural powers, and experience human emotions with an intensity we can't. Sometimes, the lack of human emotion makes them that much scarier/alluring.

  35. +1 Comment - What's so fascinating about these superatural beings?

Just being a part of these strange world is fascinating to me. They all have these special qualities that make them their own person - or er, creature - and I think that's pretty cool.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Definitely Betrayals by Lili St. Crow! That series is fascinating!

Blood Promise because vampires, dhampirs rule and Strigoi drool! ;)

A third choice?? Hmmm...The Awakening because Kelley rocks!

Supernatural beings are just so fascinating because they appear to be just like us ordinary humans if they choose to, and then suddenly an extraordinary secret about them arises that just fascinates us! It's all about loving the unknown! At least for me. These creatures of myth and folklore, all that good stuff, it's just amazing to see authors bring this about in a way that is realistic, the whole concept that these beings live among us! Oh I could go on and on, but I think I wrote enough already!

    I am already a follower!!

  57. Gotta speak particularly to vampires here...my specialty, LOL. Interacting with vampires in fantasy lets you explore issues that otherwise might seem too threatening, strange, or socially unacceptable. Everyone has their dark side, but it's not something you want to indulge in everyday life! Vampires are like the embodiment of our dark fantasies in so many ways.

  66. +1: Be both the writer and reader to answer this question: They are feast for the imagination's appetite. Imagination needs both freedom and limits to truly experience itself. Creatures like these never cease to be what they are, vampires, werewolves, fairies. But those limits open millions of possibilities to explore: human tendencies; moral dilemas; supernatural powers and limits; interactions with each other, with mortals, with other races; limits to test; limits to give. The imagination never has to stop.

They don't think/eat/live like us, but they have a practically equal level of intelligence... or at least they once WERE humans. Well, they're different, but since they aren't real you don't have to worry about actual things like laws and rights, and more than just humans commiting crimes. And I like to think about - if I was like them and in their situation(s), I'd be able to handle it better (with their capabilities or quirks) than my own real life. When they win in the end of the story, it's my victory too.

  151. +1 I think what makes these supernaturals so fascinating is they embody what we secretely want to be; immortal, scary-beautiful, powerful, and mysterious. These books allow us to be those things and more for a short time, to step out of our own vulnerable skins and into something dangerous and new.

  152. I think the reason I find most supernatural beings fascinating, especially vampires, is because they're strong, fast, graceful, most of the time beautiful, and more often than not-deadly. Yet the ones in (most of) these books choose not to be, they choose to love instead.

I want Darklight by Lesley Livingston, Fragile Eternity by Melissa Marr, and Stargazer by Claudia Gray.

  154. I just also became a follower.
I love what it adds to their personality. For example, if they can destroy bad guys, then they have this extra layer of personality that does good....
    Thanks!

  155. I think that vampires, werewolves and fairies are so interesting because they aren't something most people expect to see and so it gives them a mysterious factor, plus that makes it a good way to lose yourself into them.

+1 What's fascinating to me about supernatural beings is the mostly because of how unpredictable it/they can be! With so many creative creatures out there, there aren't really any limits to what we can create. ;D (Awesome question btw!)

  160. +1 Comment - What's so fascinating about these superatural beings? - It's nice to go beyond what is normal and accepted and slip into the possibility of other realities, the idea that maybe there is more to the world than what we immediately see.
