Cassia has always trusted the Society to make the right choices for her: what to read, what to watch, what to believe. So when Xander's face appears on-screen at her Matching ceremony, Cassia knows with complete certainty that he is her ideal mate . . . until she sees Ky Markham's face flash for an instant before the screen fades to black.
The Society tells her it's a glitch, a rare malfunction, and that she should focus on the happy life she's destined to lead with Xander. But Cassia can't stop thinking about Ky, and as they slowly fall in love, Cassia begins to doubt the Society's infallibility and is faced with an impossible choice: between Xander and Ky, between the only life she's known and a path that no one else has dared to follow.
Mini Review:
Imagine a world where everything you’ve done is analyzed into data that determines your perfect match along with nutrition, skills, and job placement even death. In Condie’s exciting debut, Cassia finds out exactly how far the Society will go to create a perfect world. MATCHED is a captivating page turner that’s for sure! First off, I love the love triangle aspect of the books I read. It makes me feel like I have a choice in which character I think the protagonist should choose. In the case of MATCHED, I’m a little torn. I would have liked to know more about Xander as in more scenes with him and Cassia. But, I guess the Society had something else in mind. I don’t want to go into more detail and spoil anything for readers who’ve not read the book. I did enjoy the characters and the risks they took to protect one another.
This book is a great start to an exciting new series, one I can’t wait to find out what’s in store for Cassia’s future.
