Lily Parker has just had her world turned upside down when she finds out she has to attend an elite boarding school in Chicago while her parents take a sabbatical in Germany for 2 years. Well, to Lily being shipped off to a new place might seem the worst of her problems until her new friend Scout starts taking mysterious late night trips while breaking curfew. Lily soon realizes things aren’t as they seem when one dangerous encounter opens her eyes to the unexpected world around her where magic exists and to top it all off she finds herself caught smack in the middle of a magical war between a group of rebel teens who protect Chicago and dark magic users who want all the power for themselves. How can Lily help her friend when she has no powers of her own or so she thinks…?
Firespell is a spellbinding read that will leave you turning the pages for more…
The characters in Firespell are exciting and well developed. Lily is witty and she’s got spunk. I loved reading about her friendship with Scout and it’s one of the reasons I enjoyed this book so much. The brat-pack (rich brats whose only objective is to rule the school and stomp on anyone who gets in their way) had their part in this story and I enjoyed what they added to the story. I love romance in novels and the chemistry that Lily and one alluring blue-eyed boy by the name Jason Shepherd did not disappoint. I can’t wait to see how their relationship develops in the next installment.
I loved the magical world that Neill has created. I was drawn into the story from page one and could not put this book down. The danger that lurked underneath St. Sophia’s Boarding School had me on the edge of my seat. I love the hierarchy and different groups of magic users that Neill created and the powers that each contained. With the different powers exhibited in Firespell, I can only imagine what Neill has in store for us next.
I can’t wait to see what mission Lily and Company has to handle next…
