Sensational 7 Q & A with Jennifer Murgia!

Have you ever wanted to know what it would be like to hang out with your favorite author(s)? In an attempt to get a better understanding of authors, my Sensational Seven Q & A takes a closer or more personal look at these authors to give you a glimpse of the personalities behind the writing of your favorite books.

“Talent alone cannot make a writer. There must be a man behind the book; a personality which, by birth and quality, is pledged to the doctrines there set forth, and which exists to see and state things so, and not otherwise.” By Ralph Waldo Emerson

Jennifer Murgia has been writing since she was nine years old. After receiving recognition for her poetry, she went on to use her talents to bring characters to life in fiction novels that are authentic, intriguing, and personal. She currently resides in Pennsylvania with her husband and two children.

Her debut novel, ANGEL STAR is in stores today!

If you were given a chance to travel back in time, what year or place would you go / Why?
I would probably go back to the 50’s! Life seemed so carefree back then. Dad’s went to work, mom’s baked cookies, kids built tree houses . . . yep, easy!

Describe your novel in seven words or less?
Girl falls for angel and battles darkness.

Please share with us about your favorite book and fictional crush to date?
I have so many favorite books, it wouldn’t be fair to narrow it down to just one. I really loved A Great and Terrible Beauty by Libba Bray. I’m one to fall for magic every time, and I enjoy books that revolve around the Victorian era.

Strangely, my fictional crush is not in that book! Yeah, Edward Cullen’s hot, but my fictional crush would be Hunter Niall from Cate Tiernan’s Sweep series. The first book is Book of Shadows and there are thirteen in all. I devoured each one. If you’re not familiar with them, I highly recommend acquainting yourself – Hunter is an all around great guy...plus he’s hot...plus he speaks with a British accent. Ok, shutting up now!

If you could be any character in fiction, whom would you be / Why?
My first instinct is Morgan Rowlands. She’s the heroine in the Sweep series and I mention her for obvious reasons!!

On a serious note, I would have to say Morgaine from The Mists of Avalon. To be able to take a tiny boat and part the mists on a lake and end up in Avalon amazed me. I read that book over and over when I was younger.

Kind of strange they have similar names! I just realized that!

If Hollywood made a movie about your life, whom would you like to see play the lead role as you/ Why?
I would pick a soft-spoken, yet funny unknown actor to play me. I think everyone out there is stereotyped with roles they’ve portrayed. It would have to be someone who is deep emotionally – I tend to over-feel and think things yet, they also have to have a light attitude about life – I’m also very optimistic.

If someone wrote a biography about you, what do you think the title should be – please explain?
Oh that’s too funny! Let me see . . . for a writer, I’m drawing a blank! It’s easier to write about other people’s lives than my own! How about PIECES OF THE PUZZLE? Everything in my life has fit together so nicely, my life is excruciatingly happy! I have a wonderful husband, two fabulous kids, a loving family and the pieces link together perfectly. I’m an author now – living a dream I’ve wanted since I was a child.

How would you describe yourself/life in seven words?
content – complex- silly – family- busy – blissful- loving

Bonus:

**Is there any additional info you would like to share with your readers about what’s next for you and your books?**
Well first, let me thank you so much for having me as a guest!

What’s next? I am planning on doing a small tour for Angel Star, mostly in eastern Pennsylvania. I also plan on doing a giveaway or two. I have tons of fun little things planned so please, stop by my website during the next few months to see what is happening. By the way, there will be a sequel to follow Angel Star – that’s another exciting reason to check in often!

Thanks Jennifer for stopping by!

  23. Really Great Interview. I Have Seen This Book Title Floating Around For A Bit And Have Always Been Drawn To The Star Because It Just Stands Out So Nicely From The Black Book Cover. The Story Sounds Like Something I Would Really Enjoy Reading.
